L'Unesco

In 1972,The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, UNESCO, approved the Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. In one of the most elevated moments of the process of recognising of the high intellectual quality of the human race, it decreed that Culture and Nature were unalienable, necessary and fundamental elements for the development of the society of the whole planet, and for maintaining peace and solidarity.

Consciousness becomes an instrument to prevent tragedies, knowledge an incentive to interchange between peoples; indifference, ignorance and speculation are the obstacles to realising this.

The task of UNESCO, through its actions and initiatives, is to oppose those negative processes, because today it is necessary for Humanity to recognise its own heritage - to be able to preserve both that Heritage and Humanity itself. Education and awareness can spark off the active process of maintaining a diffuse culture that leads to spontaneous respect for Historic and Natural Treasures, as well as for the whole of Humanity. The stakes are high. For this to come true it is necessary to put into circulation instruments that can make themselves interpreters of this vision, that express the urgency of preserving World Heritage at the same time as we identify it.
